Marvel Studios recently dropped a full trailer for its next upcoming superhero film, Black Panther. This action-packed preview featured everything from heart stopping visuals to violent car chase scenes, to numerous men in tights. Directed by Ryan Coogler, it stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/ Black Panther who returns home to assume his role as king of Wakanda, only to find his rule threatened by Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan).
Alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Forest Whitaker, Black Panther is the first of the Marvel franchise films to feature a predominantly black cast. Not only does the film step outside the conventional, Hollywood style, but also possesses a bodyguard group composed entirely of badass female Wakanda warriors known as Dora Milaje, or the Adored Ones.
From politically powerful, feminist soldiers to the minority appealing dynamic of Black Panther’s structure, this film is on track to break Box Office records. You can catch it in theaters everywhere February 16th, 2018.
