Arthur Kwon Lee Signs As InRage Entertainment's First Visual Artist

2 November 2018 (Los Angeles, CA) – Today, InRage Entertainment signs its first visual artist, New York-based, Arthur Kwon Lee. The former Tae Kwon Do national medalist turned fine artist stands in budding contrast to America’s stereotype of the South Korean male. Covered in tattoos, muscle bound and obsessed with rap culture, Lee is an enigma in the art world.

Competitive, passionate and no stranger to being an outcast, InRage’s first visual artist has won medals for three consecutive years in the domain of martial arts and was invited to compete internationally for his dominance. His creativity pulled him in a different direction and Arthur Kwon unexpectedly put down the sword and picked up the brush.

In signing Lee, Automatic, InRage President and CEO, said, “With Arthur’s discipline and skill in martial arts and his talent as a painter, I believe he can be one of the greatest and interesting visual artists of our time. My focus is to help him combine his artistic abilities in both art forms to create something new and fresh.”

One can see in Arthur’s paintings a combination of his athletic prowess and his musical tastes. Luminous colors in large-scaled gestural marks illustrate what looks like ritual defiance of authority. His paintings are what happens when disciplinary obsession meets experimental expression. Some call him the “Korean Basquiat”.

In signing with InRage, Arthur Kwon Lee said, “I always wanted to be an artist, but I’m an introvert so I am going old school by choosing the brush, after all painting is intimate by its nature.”

In an age where technology and social media run rampant we are more alone than ever, but through his work, Lee wants to combine our need to connect with one another with our need to create.

Lee has been awarded by George Washington University, the Overseas National Institute, the Korea Memorial Foundation, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Korean Artist Association of United States, McLean Project for the Arts, the Jung Society of Washington and many more. He has produced huge indoor mural installations all along the East Coast for influential moguls and celebrities of all genre. Lee’s background is extensive in the fine arts, only to name a few he has exhibited in the Gallery of San Carpoforo – Milan, Italy, Gallery 31 - Washington, DC, The Bullock Gallery – Mclean, VA and the Corcoran Gallery of Art - Washington, DC.

InRage Entertainment plans to pair their first visual artist with legendary hip hop recording artists and emerging recording acts to create iconic pieces that belong in fine art galleries and on Spotify playlists.
